Theatre at the Ridge, Cedar Ridge High School’s powerhouse theatre program, continues to light up the stage with bold productions, innovative training, and award-winning talent.
Under the direction of Kristie Copeland and Julia M. Smith, with Technical Directors Shaelin Abbaitello and Connor Hopkins, the program offers specialized tracks in acting, musical theatre, and technical theatre, preparing students for careers both on and off the stage.
In 2026, Theatre at the Ridge continued its tradition of excellence at the Heller Awards for Young Artists, with Newsies earning honors for Best Choreography and Best Technical Execution. The program’s 2025 musical, Catch Me If You Can, also brought home top honors, with Theatre at the Ridge earning Best Production, Best Direction, Best Choreography, and Best Costume. This follows the program’s 2024 victories for Best Choreography and Best Ensemble for Mary Poppins. Alumni have gone on to perform on Broadway, while current students continue to dazzle audiences both on campus and throughout the community.
The 2026–27 season showcases the incredible range and talent of Theatre at the Ridge students. The season opens with Lights Up!, a Musical Theatre Showcase on September 24, followed by Beanstalk! The Play! on October 15. In December, students will celebrate the season with the Cedar Ridge Holiday Spectacular on December 4–5, followed by the mainstage musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels on January 28–30, 2027.
Beyond the main productions, 2027 will bring many additional performance opportunities through Theatre at the Ridge. These performances are selected later in the school year, so the full 2027 lineup is still taking shape. Stay tuned for announcements about the exciting shows and performances our students will bring to the stage! From comedy and improv to classical theatre, showcases, and other special performances, there will be plenty of opportunities throughout the year to experience the talent and creativity of Theatre at the Ridge.
None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our season ticket holders, Theatre at the Ridge Booster Club, and our generous community sponsors. Their support helps provide our students with the resources, opportunities, and experiences that make this program possible. Whether you are interested in becoming a season ticket holder, joining the Booster Club, sponsoring the program, volunteering, or finding another way to support our students, we would love to hear from you!
